My load of guilt doth weigh me down

My load of guilt doth weigh me down,
It has bowed down my head;
O Lord, remove my stony heart,
Give me a heart of flesh.

Weighed down beneath a load of sin,
Death makes me sore afraid;
Do wash me in Thy precious blood,
And drive my fears away.
3
My heart cannot find peace and rest
Until I cry to Thee;
Beneath the cross to plead and say
That, “Jesus died for me”.
4
Grant that I may have faith, dear Lord,
Obtain this experience;
Until old things shall pass away
And all things become new.
