O Lord, have mercy and forgive,

Spare the soul that to Thee renews;

Great is Thy mercy upon us,

A sinner cannot cling unto Thee.

My sins are many, but they can’t

Exceed the pow’r of Thy goodness;

Your greatness is unlimited,

So likewise let us see Thy love.

Wash the sin in my heart away,

And my guilt soul wash it away;

The fear is just within my heart,

My sins now displease me O Lord.

With shame I now confess my sin,

Sin to Thy commands and goodness;

If Thy judgment to me is giv'n,

I am guilty, and Thou art right.

If judgment quickly take my life,

I’ll justify Thee at death’s point;

if I am sent to be destroyed,

It is right in Thy face, o Lord.

The trembling sinners, O Lord save,

Whose hope flutters and lives in fear;

If thou shalt see sweet promises

To descend on Him in His word.
